The Der Red Max is a classic. A uniquely decorated model, this model performs as good as it looks and has a personality all its own!
Standing just a tad over 16 inches tall, the Max is one of our rockets that’s a must have in your rocket arsenal. Every launch with our standard engines will give you stellar flights over 500 feet. Recovery is accomplished with a colorful 18 inch parachute for safe landings.
In addition to retaining all of the great looks and flying qualities of the original, this new version now features laser cut wood fins for improved performance and has a waterslide decal set that replicates the original – including the totally cool skull and crossbones.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BUILD: Scissors, pencil, ruler, fine sandpaper, carpenter’s glue, hobby knife, masking tape, primer (white) and paint (black, red). (Tools, construction and finishing supplies not included.)
WHAT YOU NEED TO LAUNCH (sold separately): Estes Porta-Pad II Launch Pad and Electron Beam Launch Controller, Estes model rocket engines, starters and recovery wadding. Four 1.5V high quality AA alkaline batteries are also required for launch controller (not included).

Glad to see the return of a classic
I had a Der Red Max 30 years ago and I’m very happy to see the return of one of my favorite kits. It’s great to see some of the classics like this and Interceptor back in the lineup. I’ll be ordering this one and a Mini Max as well (have to have them both!). Great job, Estes.

Glad to see the return of a classic
This was one of my favorite kits 30 years ago and it’s great to see one of the more stable kits return to the line-up. I’ll be ordering a Der Red Max, and also a Mini Max (gotta have the pair!). Great to see some of my old favorites like this and Interceptor back!

An oldie, but a goodie
I built my first Red Max many years ago, and just built a new one (with the great skull and bones parachute). I have upscaled it to a BT-80 body tube, and down scaled it to a BT-5 tube. I am building my newest Max with a D motor mount and a slight stretch to the airframe. Like the Big Bertha and the Alphas, the Red Max is a staple of the Estes fleet. It is versatile, and a great flier, as well.

Great Classic!
I bought a few of these! Had one back in the 80’s, and it was always one of the crowd (and my) favorites, and that still holds true today.
The Lazer cut fins are a nice update.
Thanks for being able to offer that black chute, I’ll be ordering a bunch of those!
