Loved it, but parachute did not deploy, rocket MIA

easy to set up, easy to launch, very hard to find on a windy day when parachute does not deploy!

Will try again with a8-3, work up to c6-5s.

    Super fast and surprisingly straight

This rocket is one of my favorites. I was able to shoot 3 rockets at the same time with all of my launch sets. Definitely recommend a watch party to help find the rockets.

    Great starter kit

Purchased this launch set and it was a fun way for me to start this hobby. Very easy to assemble with straight forward instructions. Took longer for the cement to dry than it took for me to assemble everything. Highly recommended product!

    Great 1st Set

Bought this for my son’s birthday, super easy to assemble. Would recommend as a starter set for anyone.

Kit is affordable and instructions and parts for both the rocket and launch pad are well organized and easy to follow.

The rear rocket section with the fins required a little effort to get the parts to fit together, but the finished product was good.
Launch pad is very easy to assemble and the fact you can easily assemble and dis-assemble the launch pad makes transport a lot easier.

First launch (with a recommended first launch motor A8-3) the “arrow” lived up to it’s name – slicing through the sky straight as an arrow. The parachute provided a reasonably slow descent – slow enough to avoid damaging the rocket – but fast enough so that if you launch with some wind it will not float too far away.

Looking forward to a lot more launches with “B” and C”” motors.

This is why we do test flights.

Picked up the set (on clearance) and some A8-3 motors at a local craft shop, which absolutely made my week. Perfect summer fun, just like my X-15 set back in the Eighties….

Assembly was simple and straightforward. Constructing the launch pad took maybe ten minutes if you count all the time fussing with mating up the two-piece rod. The plastic fins and motor housing fit together pretty well, and a few dabs of cyanoacrylate glue in the right places got me a nice-looking well-balanced rocket.

Had given a thought to going for some more powerful motors, but heeded the guidance to use the A8-3s for the first few flights.

Took it out to the soccer field behind the local middle school. Gauged the wind, set up everything safely away from buildings and trees and such, inserted the igniter and plug (note: whoever came up with the idea for those plugs deserves a large prize). Backed up to the length of the control wire, key in and light on, held my breath, quick countdown, pressed the button.

    Flawless launch. Straight up.

Lost sight of it for a second – couldn’t have gone into a cloud, right? – then heard the ‘bang’ of the parachute deployment. A few dramatic moments, then I see the rocket – or three-fourths of it – falling back to Earth, tail-first.

When the deployment charge had popped, it had snapped the rubber retaining strap – probably made brittle at the mounting point by that glue. Half an hour of searching yielded a lacrosse ball that looked like a moon of Jupiter but no nose cone or parachute.

So yes, I should have used normal white glue on the retention strap (like it indicated on the instructions, though probably not for this reason) instead of the super stuff. And I’m glad I didn’t go for the stronger motor; who knows where everything would have ended up.

Otherwise happy with general product quality. Will be getting a replacement of some sort very soon.

    Great Rocket for Beginners

This rocket didn’t disappoint. Flew high and straight every time.

    Great starter rocket!

My wife and I had never messed with model rockets before, but I bought the Silver Arrow and we thought we’d give it a go. The instructions were easy to follow, the rocket was easy to build, and we had a ball doing it together.

On Saturday, we took our kids out to a football field and tried our first launch. Everything went perfectly! We launched twice, with B6-4 engines, and our kids (and we) were thrilled.

Highly recommended. And because it is mostly black, it was easier to see going up and coming down. ESTES NOTE: Rocket body colors vary. We produced this kit with black or purple body tubes.
