The Cherokee E has fast become one of my favorite model rockets to build and fly. It's an easy build and performs excellent. The Cherokee E is a great steppingstone for newer Rocketeers looking to go to the next level in higher performing rockets I hope Estes will not discontinue this exciting model. It would be nice, if Estes would make another version in a larger model someday, possibly a BT60 version would be Great!!
Great kit, great launch with the recommended E motor. Being a little heavier, it doesn't go as high which for us is a plus.
It's a straightforward kit. Easy to build, hard to mess up.
The design takes me way back to the 1970s and reminds me of my first cool rocket - the USS Atlantis....
It's difficult to review a rocket before you have built it. I purchased the LEO Space Train because of the way it looks. I have been building Estes rockets since the late 60's when mail-order was the only way to go. You filled-out a paper form, sent it in, and waited for what seemed like an eternity for the kit to arrive; every trip home from school was filled with anticipation. It remember they always seemed to be delivered in a narrow rectangular box. I still have one. I was delighted when Estes started putting their products in retail stores. Wow, you didn't have to wait for them! Seems things have gone full-circle, and we are mail ordering them again. Back in the day, Estes had some stunning designs - Mars Snooper, Trident (the one that had three tubes - Tri = 3), Mars Lander, Enterprise, etc. Over time Estes went-away from these cool exotic designs, in-favor of more simplistic ones. Seemed every rocket looked the same, with different paint and slightly different fins. My interest waned as well. They seem to have returned with interesting models like the LEO. Kudos to Estes for returning to their roots! The latest models, like the Soyuz, and legacy rockets (with balsa nosecones!),are regaining my interest. As I have children, and grand children, these are the types of rockets that interest them (e.g. Athena H - what a great rocket). The larger rockets are great as well. A tube with different fins is one thing, but a rocket that has personality and design is quite another. Such is the LEO and why I purchased it.
