The Riptide rocket assembles in just minutes and requires Estes engines for the launch. Start with B4-4 engine for the first flight. Then, proceed with B6-4 for subsequent launches.

This set can reach cloud topping heights of 675 ft. (206 m) on Estes C6-5 engine using the Estes launch pad and launch controller. With all the parts you need for your launch included, just add the engines and you'll be ready for the launch site in less than an hour. Requirements for this Ready-To-Fly (RTF) Riptide Launch Set, which are sold separately, includes –

50 years since I sent a home made Estes rocket into the sky

So it's been over 50 years since I sent a home made Estes rocket into the sky, never more to be seen... But today with my wife and grandson we got three great launches, each time adjusting the trajectory until on number three the RIPTIDE floated gently down to within 10 feet of the launch pad. My grandson now thinks that's how it's done. LOL. The kit was EASY to assemble and explain to a seven year old, as he spent a rabid 5 minutes on the phone explaining the WHOLE procedure to he folks when we got home. All parts wored as they should and we had a blast (off)! Now to the store for more engines. Even had a coach setting up gear in the field we were launching from jog by and mention how he loved rockets as a kid, HA.

Riptide is a great beginner rocket

My 10 year old nephew Luke was just thrilled with Riptide and it's performance. We launched it 3 times that weekend!
He is going to be purchasing intermediate rockets so he can put his mind and hands to work creating something that he can launch and take pride in knowing he built it. 5 stars too Estes....they were a big part of my childhood in the 1970's.
