    A classic Estes kit re-imagined.

    The specially designed engine mount has two molded tabs. These tabs hold the wing elevators in the flat position during boost for nice straight-up flights. Then at apogee, the ejection charge kicks the engine mount out and “snap”, the two elevators move into the full “up” position and TAZZ Estes rocket spins wildly on the way down!

    Larger than the 1960's "Gyroc" kit, this rocket model has balsa wings with alignment tabs that fit into pre-cut slots. This makes aligning the wings much easier during assembly and after the glue is dry. Moreover, you also get a strong wing-to-tube glue joint.

    The clever molded plastic retainers make installing and replacing the elevator actuator rubber bands very easy.

    This rocket is a blast, flies straight, pretty high and has a fast turnaround because of no parachute or wadding. FUN, FUN, FUN!

    I too had a Gyroc when I was a teenager.

    Interesting take on the spin recovery method.

    Tazz was a fairly easy build. One deviation from the instructions I took was applying hinge tape 'L" to the fins before I removed the fins from the sheet. I also wondered about the gluing in of the Hooks and Locks thinking if I broke one it would be easier to replace if it were not glued and relied on the retainer clip. In the end I yellow glued it all to keep it in place but easy to replace.

    Tazz is a fun rocket.

    This is a fun launch. It flys well and the twisting recovery is fun to watch. We try to guess how close it will land. Tazz is a cloud pleaser. The best part is that you do not have to chase it very far.
