from 1680 reviewsThe title of a novel by French writer Marcel Proust, usually translated as 'Remembrance of Things Past', but actually means 'In Search of Lost Times'. I'm old now, but from 1967 to around 1969 I lived and breathed model rockets, building kits by Estes and Centauri too if anyone recalls the latter. My biggest disaster was launching two stages of the three stage Astron Farside(?) but not securing the booster properly. When the upper engine was ignited it simply blew the lower one out of the first stage tube without separating the two, then fired through both. The lower stage didn't catch fire but certainly wasn't in great shape! That was almost sixty years ago, and while I certainly prefer being a grownup, launching rockets was fun way back when.
Idly browsing online I discovered that Estes still exists, so ordered their catalogue to wallow in nostalgia. I'll not be taking up that hobby again but am delighted that a fragment of my past still exists. Have fun!

Coming back into the hobby. Found out about the mega Der Red Max & had to have it. Good quality, fast delivery

FUN ROCKET TO BUILD, LOTS OF RELIATIC DETAILS.
CAN NOT WAIT TO FLY IT

It's definitely an advanced build. The only trouble i had (being old) was getting a good cut on the booster parachute compartment. Be a great build. I am almost finished assembly. Can't wait to launch. Definitely a great project.

Another easy to build kit that doesn't require painting to look great. The plastic parts are nicely molded, without any "flash". Building it was relaxing and straightforward. Personally, I think it would have looked better with three fins instead of four, but that's a minor point. Despite its simplicity, it's lots of fun to fly, even for experienced builders. I like the balance Estes has achieved with the introduction of easy to build kits like this one and more challenging ones like the Athena and Vogel. All fly great.

I'm still building mine, but from the time I opened the box, I've been impressed with the quality of this kit. The plywood fins and rings are first rate. It's obvious that a great deal of engineering went into the design, with features like vent holes in the booster centering rings to vent the pressure during staging and the design of the parachute compartment on the booster. The kit requires care and prior modeling experience helps, but it's shaping up to be a great addition to my fleet. When cutting the slots for the fins and the booster parachute compartment, use a fresh knife blade so the cuts are precise and as clean as possible. Pay careful attention to the instructions and read them thoroughly before you start building. The centering rings for the booster parachute compartment are different sizes but are easily identified by the number of vent holes. Still, mixing them up would be an easy mistake to make. Also, measurements are critical on this one because the stage coupler for the booster has to clear the upper stage centering rings. Regarding the upper stage centering rings, be careful to not get glue in the base of the booster tube so the stage coupler slides easily and smoothly in the stage. There's plenty here to satisfy the experienced builder, but if you work carefully and follow the instructions carefully, someone who has built only a few models should be able to build this one too.

Very excited to build such a fine kit. I'm always up for a challenge that will utilize many of my building skills. Great quality components will make this a pleasure to construct.

This is by far my favorite rocket in my collection!!!! Love the Parachute recovery on the booster!!!!

Love this rocket design. It's nostalgic, fund to build, and love the way the orange color pops. Great for any collection.

Estes Catalogs have always been classic and informative . The 2025 catalog is Awesome!

The Vogel is unique in the Estes line, being a rocket with parachutes on both stages. While I haven't had a chance to fly mine yet, the kit was a satisfying build.

Best ever catalog…I have flown rockets for over 40 years..Estes is the best…brings back fond memories of my yourh….

This was a gift, and my dad was very happy with it. Everything was well packaged and we had no problems understanding the instructions. Just waiting for the weather to cooperate.
