the riptide is one of my favorites out of all of our rockets (the larkspur rocket club, of which I am the founder) and it goes really high.

    Excellent first rocket!

I bought this as a gift for my nephew and by the 3rd launch he was doing everything himself. He struggled with the gator clips and primer hookup, but I think he was a little nervous is all. We had 3 great launches (iPhone Slow-Mo video provided an amazing keepsake video) with recoveries. I am sure if we used the C engines we would have lost the rocket altogether though (slight breeze on the ground, but did travel pretty far on the return). I think this will be the first of many more he’ll be enjoying. Thank you Estes!

    Great Beginner Rocket

I had this rocket a few years ago when I was 10 and didn’t know much about rockets. This kit served me well because of how easy it was to fly.

    Awesome Rocket

I bought this rocket in a store a few years ago and by the sunset of the day I got it, it had already been launched. After that we got many launches out of it… until it got stuck in a tree two days ago. 🙁
Anyway, it’s an awesome, super easy rocket!

    Excellent Starter Rocket Kit

This was my son’s first rocket and was extremely simple to prep and launch. At the time of this review it has now been launched three times with B4-4 engines and has always landed withing 100ft of the launch. The engine retainer ring is looking a bit burnt, but is still fully functional. My son and I are both looking forward to launching it again… maybe even with a B6-4 or C6-5.

The included launch pad and controller could be of better build quality, but both have worked flawlessly every time. If you are just looking to get started in model rocketry, you’d be hard pressed to find a better kit for the price.
