    Good starter kit, questionable Launcher

The one minor issue I had with the rocket is that it recommends up to a C6-5/7. After launching on this motor, there is significant burn marks and minor melting on the bottom engine retainer. I would not recommend a C motor due to this.

Launch pad is perfect for what you would expect. However, the launch controller has some issues. Even with brand new AA batteries, I chewed through 3 fuzes(I could hear them burn, and they were burnt on removal) before I got a rocket to launch. However, after that 4th attempt(1st successful launch) the remaining 5 launches for the day went without a hitch.

    Overall 4/5 – I plan on sticking to A8-3’s.

    Cool launch set

It really wasn’t kidding about the snap together assembly. Some parts needed a bit of sanding in order to fit snug but all in all it was a very interesting and different method of rocket building. The rocket landed within 5 feet of the launch pad with the first A motor, and was then lost when tried with a C motor, make sure your launch area is big enough!

    Great Beginner Rocket Set

My son go this for his birthday a couple of years ago and we finally got to assemble and launch it. It was very easy for him to assemble and the recovery system worked flawlessly. I grew up with Estes Rockets in the mid to late 70’s and was anxious for my son to be old enough to get into model rocketry. The newer E2X rockets definitely make it easier for a beginner to get enthusiastic about it. After this, looking forward to getting some more advanced rockets for him.

This is what got us started

My daughter and I started with this set. Super easy to get started. We still use the launch pad and controller. Unfortunately the rocket sailed away on our first launch and was never seen again. We replaced the rocket with the Dark Zero kit.
