  1. RaySitz (verified owner)

Great rocket design! Easy to build; But instruction fall short on how to paint that Black/Yellow version and get the black speckled transition to look right.

I purchased both the Vapor and the Hi-Flier XL rocket kits and was building both at same time. Noticed both had the two body tubes. So ordered an ejection baffle for each. Then noticed the long upper vapor body tube was not necessary with a baffle, so cut the upper tube down, bought the 24mm engine mounts kit and made each a booster from that portion of cut off.

Caution – Boosted, either one will go out of sight. Put a screamer if you ever want to find it and launch it a second time!

  2. Eric B

Good, but put an F44-8 and it will be there and gone.

  3. Bill Brett

    42mm diameter is perfect size.

  4. Rocket Guru

For smaller launch areas, or windy days use an ESTES Super-C, C5-3, with 8oz of max liftoff weight, an ESTES 18mm/24mm motor adapter PN 2317 and you will recovery this rocket every time.

  5. Squid Rock

The Vapor is a relatively easy build project, as it is quite basic in construction, and is very straight forward pertaining to instructions. as long as you take your time and be a bit meticulous, this kit should provide many, many good launches. its been a consistent straight flyer for me. very robust as well. its taken some damage and repairs easily, ready to fly soon as the paint dries lol. i recommend it to anyone. have fun rocketeers!

  6. ZAR

I’ve been launching model rockets and i had a D12-3 in this thing went way higher than 900 ft and i lost it. But it was a great rocket.

  7. Rocket Guru

Estes Vapor looks like a shorter verion of the Estes Star Orbiter, Estes best Pro Series II rocket. I reviewed the instructions. I would use epoxy only, leaving out the engine block for 3-grain composite 24mm motors, install an ejection baffle, upgrade the recovery system to an Estes Pro Series II nylon parachute and cut a spill hole in the center. This way the Estes Vapor would have a longer chute life and reach over 1,000feet of altitude.

  8. BZ

Nice large, easy to build rocket. You need epoxy to glue the screw on engine retainer but you can strengthen other joints with it. Fin through construction would be nice but for this model but this is not a pro-level rocket.
