Everyone builds and flies the family of Der Red Max rockets. Make sure your own collection includes our 3 inch diameter, 29 inch tall version! Includes 29mm engine mount with no forward retainer ring allowing a wide variety of engine choices.

Overview

The Der Big Red Max rocket has been a classic favorite for years, and now you can experience it in a smaller 3-inch diameter version! Here are some of the key features and benefits:

  • Long slow lift-offs. The Red Max is known for its impressive liftoffs, and the smaller 3-inch diameter version delivers the same performance. Imagine 3.5 seconds of smoke and fury on an Estes F15-4 motor!
  • Fun to build. Building the Red Max is just as fun as flying it. The rocket features thru-the-wall fins that make assembly and alignment easy, while also giving it extra strength.
  • Durable construction. With its sturdy design, the Red Max can withstand multiple launches, so you can fly it over and over again.
  • Special parachute. Only Red Max rockets come with their own special printed Skull & Bones 18 inch parachute. Thus, adding to the rocket's unique and fun design.

Whether you're an experienced rocket enthusiast or a beginner, the Red Max rocket is a great choice for your next launch.

Bought plywood fins and centering rings

Love the rocket, but felt compelled to purchase the plywood fins and centering rings to upgrade the kit. Balsa, no matter what you do, will inevitably crack. Also, replaced the standard, good ol' Estes folded paper shock cord mount with a kevlar cord loop anchored in the forward centering ring to attach recovery. The entire rocket is coated with west systems epoxy to add further strength. Yes, it's heavier, but I should get more flights out of it. The nose cone supplied with the kit is a thing of beauty, far surpassing the finish of other kits. I don't rely on the molded loop, however, as this will eventually break. Drilling holes in the nose base and adding a loop of kevlar cord is much more substantial.

Great Kit!

I just recently built this kit and it looks great! My only complaint is the fins. They should have been in one piece instead on three.
