The title of a novel by French writer Marcel Proust, usually translated as 'Remembrance of Things Past', but actually means 'In Search of Lost Times'. I'm old now, but from 1967 to around 1969 I lived and breathed model rockets, building kits by Estes and Centauri too if anyone recalls the latter. My biggest disaster was launching two stages of the three stage Astron Farside(?) but not securing the booster properly. When the upper engine was ignited it simply blew the lower one out of the first stage tube without separating the two, then fired through both. The lower stage didn't catch fire but certainly wasn't in great shape! That was almost sixty years ago, and while I certainly prefer being a grownup, launching rockets was fun way back when.
Idly browsing online I discovered that Estes still exists, so ordered their catalogue to wallow in nostalgia. I'll not be taking up that hobby again but am delighted that a fragment of my past still exists. Have fun!
